Clare is an artist living in a quaint cottage in Essex with her partner and three cats.
Clare graduated with a BA Degree in Fashion and Textiles at Winchester School of Art, in the 80s. Her main career, to date, is graphic design which she has since left to establish her art career.
Clare re-discovered her passion for painting in 2019. During the 2020 pandemic she developed her own unique watercolour style of bright, semi-abstract and textured work, reminiscent of childhood adventures and her love for nature. She studied creative painting extensively, but primarily, with the multi-talented artist Esté MacLeod.
Experimenting with printed textures on heavy watercolour paper is her signature style. She builds layers and adds details with masking fluid, dip pens, twigs, sponges and pencils, to name a few.
Colour is also an important aspect in Clare’s work, she likes to use engaging and energetic colours that are grounded in nature and uplift the soul.
Clare finds a constant source of inspiration in her garden or the great outdoors. The cottage garden has been transformed by her and her partner, David, over the last five years into a ‘tropical’ oasis.
For Clare, nature is a constant source of fascination. She's captivated by the ever-changing colours of the seasons, the little details in each plant, whether they're in full bloom or going to seed, and the playful shapes and textures all around.
Her goal as an artist? To capture this natural magic in her semi-abstract paintings, inviting you to experience the joy of being at one with nature and the relaxation it brings, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. So, let Clare's art transport you to a world of calm and wonder, right in the heart of the great outdoors.
